Gretel

I'm writing a book!! It's for a contest in the kids' art and writing magazine Stone Soup. If you win the contest, they publish your book! Anyway, mine is called Gretel, and it explores Gretel's experience seven years after the Hansel and Gretel story ends. Here's a teaser!

Hansel and Gretel's mother disappeared when they were small, and no one's ever questioned whether she could still be alive: until now. A series of clues leads Gretel into the dreaded forest, the same place where she and her brother were almost eaten by the witch all those years ago. But if Gretel wants to find and save her mother, and begin to understand a mysterious magical power that seems to be surfacing inside her, she has to face some of her worst fears. In this story of wolves, witches, and what it takes to take control of yourself, a fourteen-year-old girl has to learn who, and what, she really is.
